On a hot, muggy Sunday afternoon with half an ear on the Ryder Cup singles, we embarked on a performance that had only one winner. The pitch was bone dry and the grass too long, but this didn’t stop a comfortable 3-0 victory over Gregory Celtic. I say comfortable, the performance was comfortable, but the scoreline didn’t reflect how comfortable. A fair scoreline would have been 7 or 8 nil, but missed chances again kept it respectable for the opposition. Creating chances has not been a problem, finishing them has. Saying that, we are a much much better side than last season. Competition for places is tough, and this can only be a good thing. Goals from Rhys Sweeney, Harry Jones and a cheeky back heel from Oli Manz was the difference today. Another clean sheet showing how good our defence has become.
